Retired DCI Lorne Simpkins thought she knew what she wanted when she started an animal rescue centre with her husband Tony. Although saving and retraining exploited dogs is
fulfilling, Lorne can’t help but feel that something vital is missing from her life. Linda Carter is brutally raped and left for dead in an alley. By some miracle, she survives, but now she lives each day terrified by the perpetrator’s final threatening words–that her sister, Fiona, will be his next victim.
The sisters decide to adopt a watch dog and contact the rescue centre. During a home check to see if the girls and their flat are suited for a German Shepherd, Lorne witnesses Linda’s horrendous injuries. The young woman knows the identity of her rapist–wealthy, playboy Graham Gibson–however, the police haven’t made an arrest. The shocking story turns into a life-altering moment for Lorne. She decides to become a Private Investigator, and urges the girls to let her take up their case. Little does she know that more victims will come forward to accuse Gibson of rape.
Lorne is determined to see this vicious criminal behind bars, but is anyone ever guaranteed justice?
Guaranteed Justice is the fifth book in the Lorne Simpkins series.
Due to Tony’s injuries and loss of his leg caused through a previous mission, Lorne has decided to go down a different career path. With the help of Tony and Lorne’s dad they open an animal rescue centre. As we all know Lorne so well by now we know that this isn’t enough to fulfil Lorne’s passion from her previous career. So it’s no surprise that it’s not long before she decides to become a private investigator.
Through the rescue centre Lorne unwittingly comes across her first customer to offer her private investigating skills to. Guaranteed Justice is quite different to the authors first four novels in this series but Lornes new career still has the reader gripped throughout the story. Even though the storyline is still quite fast paced I found this particular book slightly more relaxed, I think this is due to the changes in Lornes life.
Guaranteed Justice eases the readers into Lornes new life yet still manages to grab your attention throughout the story. There are also quite a few twists, especially towards the end.
Yet another great read by the author and can not wait to read the next book.
I have awarded this book 5/5 stars.
