It was supposed to be the trip of a lifetime, a final adventure before settling down.
After a perfect start, Daniel and Laura’s travels end abruptly when they are thrown off a night train in the middle of nowhere. To find their way back to civilisation, they must hike along the tracks through a forest…a haunting journey that ends in unimaginable terror.
Back in London, Daniel and Laura vow never to talk about what they saw that night. But as they try to fit back into their old lives, it becomes clear that their nightmare is just beginning…
Follow You Home is a chilling tale of secrets, lies and deadly consequences from the author of #1 bestsellers The Magpies and Because She Loves Me.
Follow You Home is one book I won’t forget in a hurry!
As a teen I have always loved horror films as well as books, though books never freaked me out anywhere near as much as the films. That is until I read this book. I would say Follow You Home is more a psychological thriller but I actually found it more disturbing than any horror books i’ve ever read. If i could have read parts from behind my hands I would have done, the story literally had me on the edge of my seat, it certainly made for a chilling read.
Daniel and Laura decide to go on a travelling expedition before they settle down and have children, unfortunately a straight forward train journey turns out anything but. There on in the author takes his readers through a tale unlike any other with quite a few twists.
To be honest in parts of the book I felt like I wanted to grab Laura and give her a good shake, where as Daniel is trying to make sense of what happened on that fateful journey so he can move on, Laura is just a complete mess. I did feel quite sorry for Daniel throughout the story as he has to deal with a lot of issues on his own but it certainly makes for some great reading.
For anyone who enjoys a dark, creepy, chilling read this is the one for you!
Many thanks to Thomas & Mercer and Netgalley for an Advanced Readers Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
