Dance like nobody’s watching. Love like you’ll never get hurt…
Laura Watkin’s heart isn’t broken, she’s just forgotten how to use it.
After years on her own, the highlight of single mum Laura’s week is watching Strictly Come Dancing with a glass of Pinot Grigio and a large helping of imagination.
With her daughter Sophie going travelling, Laura knows the time is right to do something for herself for a change. One disastrous Zumba class later and Laura ends up at the feet (literally) of gorgeous dance instructor Tony Hernandez.
A natural dancer and inspiring teacher, Tony rekindles in Laura a passion she inherited from her ballroom dancer father – and with it comes a dream… to make him proud.
But when Tony enters them to perform at the National Dance Festival, can Laura’s new-found confidence survive the test? And with a once-in-a-lifetime chance to learn Flamenco in Spain, could Laura truly learn to dance like nobody’s watching… and love like she’ll never get hurt?
A laugh-out-loud, uplifting comedy about finding the courage to be yourself, the importance of dreams, and learning to grab life by the glitter balls.
I honestly don’t know where to start with my review apart from that I absolutely loved it. Loved it, loved it, loved it.
Summer Flings and Dancing Dreams has got to be one of the most uplifting books I’ve read in a while. Through the main character Laura, there is a strong message that she and the readers learn that it doesn’t matter how old you are never ever give up on your dreams.
With chapter titles such as ‘Slut Dropping Zumba Queen and Someone Else’s Leggings’ and ‘The Fine Tart of Sexting’ I knew I was going to enjoy this book.
Summer Flings and Dancing Dreams is a fantastically sweet, funny and a slightly emotional read. Sue Watson has created a wonderful story and characters which were a joy to read. Some of the scenarios that Laura finds herself in I think most readers will find themselves being able to relate to her and I love how the author has kept it very realistic, especially with Laura’s love life.
You have to love Laura’s character, I could very much see a lot of myself in her and by the end I felt like she was my best friend. Another character I loved is Tony. Everyone and I mean everyone needs a Tony in their lives. For me he is very much Laura’s fairy godmother, the bond that he and Laura have is just fabulous and I am so jealous of it! I want a Tony!
A definite must read that will bring happiness and sparkle into your life.
