12:07 The Sleeping By L.Sydney Abel

Book Description:

THE SLEEPING have always come for The Unwanted…
James would fight for his life many times – always winning and yet always fearing that anytime soon, it might be his last.
THE SLEEPING are guardians of the underworld who feed from the tormented souls sent there. In our world, they haunt those whom they believe belong in Hell.
THE SLEEPING enter our realm to claim their victim, until the wrongly-given soul is taken.
When The Custodian of ‘The Room of Truth’ is asked to perform a ritual of worship, loyalty to God and The Messenger are in conflict. The lives of The Unwanted, The Protector, The Messenger and 2 Pretty Things are assembled by divine invitation.
You know when they’re here… you can feel them.
Remember; stay awake, because when they come for you and take you, there is no going back. If you give up fighting, then you might as well give up living…

The Unwanted – A person not created from want.
The Protector – The shield made from love.
The Custodian – The keeper of sins inside ‘The Room of Truth’.
The Messenger/The Key – Is someone who is at the bidding of The Sleeping. A soul for a soul.
The Pretty Things – Beauties of either gender.

My Thoughts:

12:07 The Sleeping is basically a horror novel though there are moments of erotica as well.

Lance has always suffered nightmares since the age of 5, he doesn’t know why he does, he just does. He plods along in his moderately dull life along with his wife Katherine. His only highlights of his day is when he is at his office and his secretary, Imogen, bends over to do the filing. When Lance happens by chance to start talking to his elderly neighbour Mr Green, the reasoning behind his nightmares soon becomes apparent.

Lance is actually quite a weak man and to be honest I felt quite sorry for his wife Katherine. Overall though I can’t say I was drawn to any of the characters as none of them were overly likeable. They all have their own baggage that they have to carry but to a certain extent a lot of that is down to their own actions.

I did find the whole Sleepers bit very interesting. It has a certain biblical feel to it with good versus evil, God and Satan etc. It is very much a story of having faith and putting your trust in to strangers.

12:07 The Sleeping is an enjoyable read, it isn’t one of the scariest books I’ve ever read but it is still good none the less.

I have awarded this book 4/5 stars.

12:07 The Sleeping is available to purchase from Amazon.
