| DI Jack Dylan is back and boy does he have some harrowing cases to solve.
I really enjoyed catching back up with Dylan who is now living with the lovely Jen. Dawn, Dylans colleague, I loved in the first book as her and Dylan have some great banter going on. Due to her being pregnant she seems to take a bit more of a back seat in this book but it does tie in nicely with the storyline. To be honest the crimes that need solving in Consequences are certainly not for the faint hearted. A woman burned to death has got to be pretty harrowing but what was worse is the case to do with the poor young boy who has died through neglect and physical abuse. I actually have to applaud the authors as they haven’t shied away from the atrocities that the police force have to face. Don’t get me wrong it isn’t the easiest of things to read and I literally could have sobbed for the poor little lad, but it reminded me how much we should value our officers as it certainly isn’t a job that most of us could do, I for one certainly couldn’t anyway. Consequences is a hard hitting novel which I think due to the nature of the story some readers may find some parts upsetting. Other than that though this is a gripping read which had me racing towards the end as I wanted justice for the victims as much as Dylan and his team. I have to say what a great crime series this is turning out to be and I can’t wait to read the next book. Many thanks to the authors for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. |
