My Thoughts:
Political Suicide is a short story. At only 22 pages it takes absolutely no time to read at all.
This is the second short story I have read by this author now and I love how he manages to cram so much tension and action into them.
The story is set in Belfast where McCabe and the rest of the staff in the building are going about their daily business. It’s not long before two men show up and start to shoot anyone that gets in their way.
Even though it is only a short story it certainly had me on the edge of my seat as I feared for the safety of McCabe as well as the rest of the staff. The author does a great job of grabbing the readers attention and drawing them straight in. Even in such a short space of time, I had already taken to McCabe and would have loved to have read more.
This is a good little read that show bags of potential from the author and I am eagerly awaiting a full length one.
If you are interested in reading this short story yourself, the author is kindly emailing a copy free to anyone who would like one. All you need to do is email him at simonmaltman@gmail.com.
My rating 4/5 stars.
