Book Description:
Ben Cassidy has a hard job balancing single motherhood with her career as a Crime Scene Investigator.
While taking a course in Digital Forensics she meets the charming Jacob Tully, an ex army war veteran struggling with his past.
While the team investigate the apparent hit and run of a care home worker, Ben suspects there is more to it. As events unfold she discovers the connection to a series of murders much closer to home.
To catch the killer, can she confront the demons from her past?
Will the team piece together the evidence before it’s too late?
The hunt is on for a twisted killer and this will be their deadliest challenge yet.
The team are back in the second novel from the gripping North East Police series.
My Thoughts:
Cass Hunt is on maternity leave so it’s left to her team to solve some pretty horrific crimes that have happened in the area.
I have to say the criminals in this novel are probably some of the sickest ones I have come across and at times it does make for some uncomfortable reading. It does intensify the story though and by the end it really is an edge of your seat read.
Ben is a wonderful character and it was great to really get to know one of the other members of the team. She is a strong but quite a damaged character who I was glad when she met another damaged soul in Jacob. Their backgrounds are quite different but both of them are fighters and was lovely to read of them coming to terms with their pasts through the obvious bond that was forming between them.
The case that Ben is working on is set to send her world in turmoil. I was so wrapped up in Ben’s world that I felt like I was going through every emotion that she was going through. Even though she is scared she is very much determined to face her fears head on so that she can lay them to rest once and for all.
I’ve Been Watching You is quite a nail biter of a read. I was shocked, even horrified at some of the events that were unfolding. Towards the end it really picks up pace and I had to keep remembering to breath as I was constantly finding myself holding my breath as I truly didn’t know what to expect next. A great follow on from With Deadly Intent which is the first in the series.
Goodreads rating 5/5 stars.
I’ve Been Watching You is available to purchase from Amazon.
A great review Sarah and from what you say I suspect a strong stomach is needed to read this book!
