I am absolutely delighted to be one of two blogs today to be kicking off the blog tour for Love You To Death by the wonderful Caroline Mitchell. Make sure to stop by the lovely Shell’s blog, Chelle’s Book Reviews, for her stop today also.
‘I’m not your mother. You’re a monster. I don’t want you’
Women who gave a child up for adoption are being killed. A knock at their front door begins a nightmare from which they will never wake up.
For Detective Ruby Preston and her team, it is a race against time to connect the dots before the killer can strike again. But when Ruby receives a sinister email, the case takes a terrifying personal twist.
Could the clues to the identity of the killer lie in Ruby’s own past?
Who can she trust with her secrets?
And could Ruby be next?
OMG what a corker of a book to start off a new crime series!
I absolutely love Ruby. What a fantastic character. She shows so much strength yet I love the vulnerable side to her. She’s fair yet is willing to bend the rules also.
The case that Ruby finds herself working on is one that is just brilliant. Obviously it is quite horrific but as an avid crime fan I loved the reasoning behind it all and it made for a totally gripping read. You can’t help but be horrified by this story line yet the author has you wanting more. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to see who was behind it all and as usual I was totally in the dark right up until all is revealed.
I loved the relationship between Ruby and her ex Nathan. Everything about the pair screams that they should keep away from each other due to their career choices, yet you can see the magnetic attraction between them that seems to be unbreakable. It’s like when your heart says yes but your head says no, I so wanted these two to come together, but in hindsight you just know it won’t ever end well if they do. The author certainly knows how to mess with your head, never mind your heart.
Love You To Death I think is the authors best book to date. There seems to be an added darkness to this novel and Ruby, well she’s just in a league of her own. Loved it, loved it, loved it.
My thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for a copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.
Goodreads rating 5/5 stars.
