Book Description:

Would you choose to save your child if it meant someone else had to die?

Victoria and Jonathan Lyons seem to have everything—a perfect marriage, a beautiful daughter, Emily, and a successful business. Until they discover Emily, aged five, has a rare and fatal illness.

Medical trials show that a temporary fix would be to transplant a hormone from a living donor. However in the trials the donors die within twenty four hours. Victoria and Jonathan are forced to accept that their daughter is going to die.

In an unfortunate twist of fate Jonathan is suddenly killed in a farming accident and Victoria turns to her sick father-in-law, Frank, for help. Then a series of events present Victoria and Frank with a situation that, although illegal, could save Emily.

Will they take their one chance and should they?

A Sinister and Darkly Compelling Psychological Thriller Novel, this book is intended for mature audiences and contains graphic and disturbing imagery.

My Thoughts:

After reading the book description of An Impossible Dilemma, as a reader I thought ‘yeah I like the sound of this’ but as a parent reading anything about a child and fatal illnesses I did wonder if I would find it to emotional.

Don’t get me wrong to start with I did find the storyline a bit upsetting and was nearly in tears at one point but then the story goes into a totally different direction that I wasn’t expecting.

An Impossible Dilemma really is one to watch out for with a fantastic storyline and twists that the reader truly does not see coming. There is one particular twist towards the end that totally took my breath away.

This really is quite a hard book to review as believe me I want to just scream out to people how brilliant this book is but to say any more than I have I will end up giving spoilers away and I would hate to be responsible for ruining the experience of this book for someone else.

All I will say is for me personally because of certain parts in the story at times could quite easily have this book characterised as a horror genre but mainly it is a thriller. It does leave the reader questioning how far they would go for their children.

I can not believe I have never come across this authors work before, I think it should be made compulsory that everyone reads this book as I am now dying to tell everyone about it and I REALLY want to talk about the content as it seriously is that good. It certainly isn’t one for the faint hearted!

Goodreads rating 5/5 stars.

An Impossible Dilemma is out today and available to purchase from Amazon.
