She can give you everything you want… But can you trust her?
Kat and her husband Nick have tried everything to become parents. All they want is a child to love but they are beginning to lose hope. Then a chance encounter with Kat’s childhood friend Lisa gives them one last chance.
Kat and Lisa were once as close as sisters. The secrets they share mean their trust is for life… Or is it?
Just when the couple’s dream seems within reach, Kat begins to suspect she’s being watched and Nick is telling her lies.
Are the cracks appearing in Kat’s perfect picture of the future all in her head, or should she be scared for the lives of herself and her family?
How far would you go, to protect everything you love?
I am a big fan of this authors books having loved every one I have read and The Surrogate was no different. I ended up having a very late night as once I started it, I couldn’t put it down until I read the last page.
Being a mother, I remember when myself and my husband were trying for our children. Luckily it didn’t take long for us but I remember the disappointment of another month passing and realising I wasn’t. I couldn’t imagine never falling pregnant, especially when you are desperate to have a child. I really had a lot of empathy for Kat and Nick but I have to admit using surrogacy to have a child, it really threw up a lot of concerns.
The story flicks between NOW and THEN so we are taken from present day to the past when Kat and Lisa are getting ready to leave school. The pair haven’t seen each other for a lot of years and it’s obvious that something happened to cause this and boy was I dying to find out.
This is one of those stories where I didn’t trust anyone apart from Kat and I was second guessing everything only to be completely wrong. I couldn’t keep still while reading as I just knew that something was coming. It’s like Jaws when you hear the music and you are just waiting for him to appear as you know something horrible is going to happen. When it came it just kept on coming, knocking me straight back down.
The Surrogate is a read that had my heart pounding and adrenaline racing. A definite read you will not be able to put down hooking you from beginning to the very end. Absolutely loved it!
Goodreads rating 5/5 stars.
