Book Description:

The first gripping thriller in the DI Kayli Bright trilogy.

“I want my mummy…”The whisper seems to echo through the rooms of the abandoned house. DI Kayli Bright and her partner, DS Dave Chaplin, aren’t strangers to dealing with bad cases, but no one can prepare for the emotional and mental anguish the discovery of a child’s remains evokes.

Determined to find the responsible culprit, several of the dead child’s family members surface on their radar of suspects…until they learn of another child’s abduction.

The investigation leads Kayli to the shocking conclusion that even more children in the area have been abducted. A race against time ensues to find the children before they get lost in a sinister, evil world.

My Thoughts:

Wow, what a start to a new crime series!

Due to the nature of the storyline, some parts of the story were uncomfortable to read but the author has handled it all very sensitively so we get the horror of the crime without delving to deep. I have to admit some parts made for some emotional reading but this is what I would hope and expect from this genre of book.

Kayli, I loved. What a great character. The author has a way of making her main characters likeable and appealing to the readers. By the end I felt like Kayli and I were old friends which left me desperate to read more.

I actually felt like I was working alongside Kayli and her team. Not that I think she would ever have me part of it as I for one didn’t see the twists and turns coming until they hit me full on. I love how the author never fails to shock or surprise me and boy did she keep them coming in this one.

The Missing Children is a gripping thriller that had me on the edge of my seat. The author had me hooked right from the very first page until the very last. Brilliant start to a new crime series and very much looking forward to reading more.

My thanks to the author for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.

Goodreads rating 5/5 stars.
