Noir At Harrogate Library @nycclibraries @ImaginedThings @Bloodhoundbook @HarrogateTeaRms

So on Saturday the 10th of March 2018, I experienced my first time ever being a compere. I have to thank the wonderful Malcolm Hollingdrake for asking me as was a fantastic experience and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Noir at Harrogate Library was a fantastic event where seven very talented authors came and read from their books, talked about their road to being published, as well as answering questions from the audience. Sadly KA Richardson was unable to attend but the lovely Leigh Russell kindly stepped in. We also held a raffle where several lucky readers walked away with some great goodies.

Obviously all this was possible thanks firstly to the master mind behind it all, Malcolm Hollingdrake, as well as a huge thanks to Harrogate Library for allowing it to be held on the premises as well as the wonderful refreshments. The event was very kindly supported by Bloodhound Books  Imagined Things Book Shop and Harrogate Tea Rooms. A big thanks has to go to all the authors who gave up time in their busy schedules and did this event for free and kept us entertained with their wonderful readings as well as learning more about themselves and their wonderful books. So thank you Malcolm Hollingdrake, Danielle Ramsay, Leigh Russell, Eileen Wharton, Rob Ashman, Alan Wright and Liz Mistry it was greatly appreciated.

A big thanks to everyone who attended the event. It was great to see so many people of which some had travelled from as far as Scotland to see their favourite authors! It was also lovely to see such great feed back and to know how much everyone had enjoyed it.

A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Never been to a book reading before, will certainly come again. Thought all of the authors spoke well and were very interesting. I think you should have charged more.

Very interesting people! And a well-managed event

Splendid insight into the authors journeys to publication. I’ve made a juicy reading list! Thank you

Enjoyable. Lovely to see the faces and hear the voices behind the books.

Thoroughly enjoyed this afternoon – thank you for arranging and also thanks for price of ticket.

Excellent afternoon out. Some of my favourite authors.

Not having heard of any of the authors, I will definitely be reading their books.

The authors were very well prepared and all gave a good account of their backgrounds and introduction to writing.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. What a pleasure to hear both readings and personal journeys.

Very well organised and most enjoyable. Thank you

Very enjoyable. Good to hear of authors you may like to read instead of just going through the book shelves, and meeting the authors themselves.

Below is a slide show of some of the pictures that were taken.

If you have never been to this sort of event before, I highly recommend coming to one. It is a great way to find new authors as well as get to know better, or meet in person, some of your favourites. There is a chance at the end to purchase any books as well as getting to chat with the authors. Hope to see you at another event soon.

  1. Hi Sarah, you lucky girl! Wish I lived nearer. All my favourite authors in one place. I’m glad you had an amazing time. It’s so lovely to meet them all in person.
