Twenty-nine-year-old Katie Kelly is at an all-time low. The love of her life, gorgeous Ben Cole, took a job abroad and broke her heart, the restaurant she’d put her all into went bust, and now she works in a retirement home, cooking beige mush for the residents.
Not exactly the life Katie had dreamed of…
So when the opportunity comes up to work for one of the best chefs in the country – Katie’s idol – she is determined to get the job, no matter what. But then she discovers who she’s competing against: Ben, who Katie still isn’t over.
As the competition heats up, Katie and Ben spend more and more time together, and it’s clear the old spark is still there… But only one person can win their perfect job. Can Katie have it all, or will she have to choose between the man and the career she loves?
A hilarious, heart-warming story about romance, good food, and following your dreams, for fans of Lindsey Kelk, Marian Keyes and Cate Woods.
This is another author whose previous books I will definitely be adding to my ever growing to be read pile having now read one of their books.
One of my loves in life is food. So what better book to read than one about someone who wants to make it as a chef? I love programmes like Hell’s Kitchen and Master Chef and if you do also, then you are going to adore this book.
We first meet Katie in her job in a retirement home. Katie obviously wants more in her working life than cooking for people in there. She is not allowed to experiment and constantly has the supervisor on her back for trying to improve the meals. I could really feel Katie’s frustration. It’s only due to some of the other staff as well as some of the lovely residents, especially Martha, that she sticks it out.
The relationship between Martha and Katie was so lovely to read. It really makes for some emotional reading and I could feel my eyes filling up more than a few times. For me their friendship was the icing on the cake that just complemented the storyline perfectly.
When Katie gets chosen as one of the finalists in the competition for a chance to work alongside a Michelin star chef, well things certainly start to heat up and I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough to see who was going to come out on top.
One Way Or Another is so much more than a romance book. It is very much about following your dreams and never giving up. It truly is a fabulously light hearted and entertaining read that will have you bubbling with emotions. It was so wonderful that I read it in one sitting as the authors writing just captivated me and I couldn’t put it down. Would love to see more of Katie and Ben in the future.
My thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.

Colleen was born in Canada and raised in Ireland. She is the winner of the much-coveted Novelicious Undiscovered People’s Choice Award launched to find the next ‘chick-lit star’.
She spent years teaching English and Philosophy before finally taking a deep breath, scrunching both eyes shut, putting her pen to paper and vowing not to lift it again until she wrote the words ‘the end’. As a result, her first novel, Don’t Stop Me Now was born.
Colleen lives between London, Ireland and Cyprus with her very patient husband and very, very chatty twin daughters.
