Book Description:
In the 1970s, a terrifying serial killer stalked the streets of Tynemouth. The press called him the Joker. The crimes stopped – but the man was never caught.
And now he’s back.
A body has been found in a sleazy motel room, murdered in exactly the same way as the Joker’s first victims.
Is it a copycat? A trick? Or is the Joker at work once more?
It’s only DI Jack Brady’s first day back – and this will be his most twisted case yet.
As Brady digs into both the old murders and the new, he must confront revenge, betrayal, love and lies…and a truly ruthless killer.
My Thoughts:
Blood Reckoning is the fourth book in the DI Jack Brady series. I seem to be working my way backwards with this series having read book 5 first and have now just finished book 4. Even though there is definitely things I would like to know more about whats happened in previous books, it certainly didn’t spoil my enjoyment of either book.
The author starts us off with quite a dark and disturbing scene which just sets us off nicely with what we have to look forward to in the rest of the book. It certainly comes as a shock to the police when it seems a killer has raised their ugly head after years of being dormant. The killings are brutal and horrific and you can feel the race against time for them to catch them before it escalates any further.
Jack is a great main character. I am very much interested in Jack as a person as I am in his work. There is just something about him that has you caring that little bit more than you would normally with some main characters. This is why I will certainly be reading the first few books in the series as I want to get to know and understand him even more.
Blood Reckoning is a fast paced read that had me hooked from the off and kept me there until the very last word. I actually read it in one evening as I literally could not put it down. A brilliantly dark and twisted read that I simply couldn’t get enough off. Loved it!
