Everybody hides the monster inside…
When Olivia Midhurst meets Michael, she doesn’t fool herself that he’s the perfect guy. No one is perfect—she knows that better than most. Everyone has their secrets.
But something about Michael’s behaviour sets her nerves on edge, and, when people around her start to go missing, and then turn up dead, she’s forced to act.
Knowing the police will never believe what she’s witnessed, and terrified her accusations will only drag up the past she’s worked so hard to bury, Olivia has no choice but to take things into her own hands…
Having read a few books by the author I knew from picking this book up I would struggle to put it down and I wasn’t wrong.
The story flicks between present day and the weeks leading up to it. Present day had me gripped from the off and I was desperate to find out how events had led up to that point.
Olivia isn’t out looking for love but she meets Michael and can’t help falling for his charms. It doesn’t become long before she falls under his spell. There are warning signs from the start with Michael that makes the reader wary. Michael I couldn’t warm to. As nice as he comes across I didn’t like how he tried controlling her. I don’t really want to say to much more about the story as the less you know the better.
Some They Lie is a dark and compelling read that will keep you turning those pages. There is a great build up but as to what, the reader doesn’t quite know and I really enjoyed finding out. A great read for fans of psychological thrillers.
