She can’t see the killer
But the killer can see her…
Naomi Hannah has been blind since birth. Struggling with living in a small, claustrophobic town, Naomi contemplates ending her life. But then she stumbles across the body of a young woman who has been brutally murdered. She senses someone else there at the scene – watching her. Naomi may not be able to see the killer’s face, but she is still the only person who can identify him.
As the police begin hunting the person responsible and more victims are discovered, Naomi is forced to answer the question on which her fate hangs: why did the killer let her live?
In a town this small, the murderer must be close, perhaps even before her very eyes…
I have to admit to being a bit in awe of Naomi. Even though she is in a very dark place when we first meet her, the fact she manages on her own with the help of her guide dog, I really found her independence inspiring. Her blindness though is her savior as it stops her from being able to identify the killer.
Marcus is a detective working on the case under his boss Lisa. Lisa I took an instant dislike to straight away. It’s her way or no way. The way she tries to belittle Marcus wound me up as much as it did him. I didn’t like the way she worked and really felt sorry for Marcus having to work under her. Marcus I loved. In fact he was my favourite character. Even though this is mainly a psychological thriller, in parts it does feel very much like a detective novel also as the police side of things play heavily throughout.
From the very first pages the author had my full attention. I never knew where he was going to take me next as there were so many twists and turns. I was constantly doubting and second guessing everything and had no clue what the outcome of the story was going to be.
Before Her Eyes is a deliciously dark and twisted read that is packed full of suspense. As usual with this authors books, he had me gripped throughout and racing through the pages to see what the conclusion was going to be and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Yet another great read from an author who is one to watch out for and if you haven’t read any of his books yet then you are missing out.
