Book Description:
DO YOU KNOW WHAT THEY’RE HIDING IN THE HOUSE NEXT DOOR?
From the HOTTEST new crime writer of 2018 comes a new UNPUTDOWNABLE thriller…
A woman and child are found locked in a basement room, barely alive.
No one knows who they are – the woman can’t speak, and there are no missing persons reports that match their profile. The elderly man who owns the house claims he has never seen them before.
The inhabitants of the quiet Oxford street are in shock. How could this happen right under their noses? But DI Adam Fawley knows that nothing is impossible.
And that no one is as innocent as they seem . . .
My Thoughts:
In The Dark is the second book in the DI Fawley series. I wouldn’t say it was necessary to have read the first book in the series but I highly recommend it as this is turning out to be an absolutely brilliant crime series.
I have no idea how the author comes up with these amazing cases. They are anything but straight forward and the twists and turns just kept coming. I basically read the book in two sittings and only put it down to get some much needed sleep and was straight back to reading it as soon as I got up the next morning.
Fawley as with the first book we get some brief glimpses into his personal life. I am so desperate for more, especially with what happens in this book. Him and his wife are a couple that you really want to route for and have something good happen after what they have been through. Will really be interesting to see what the author has in store for them in the next book in the series.
The case itself looks pretty much straight forward apart from the story line to do with a missing women whose young son was found wandering around on his own. Obviously that had me intrigued by itself. As the police unravel more to do with the young female and child that have been kept in captive though, oh wow, the story just went up on so many levels. It really is just jaw dropping stuff.
In The Dark is just a brilliant crime thriller. It is wonderfully dark and twisted with lots of surprises and shocks in store. I absolutely loved it and the author has vast become a new favourite of mine. Can not recommend this series highly enough for people who love very clever crime books.
