Delighted today to be sharing my review of The Book Of Wonders by Julien Sandrel. The publisher has also asked if we would share 3 things from our bucket list, so here are mine:
1: Travel to Vietnam
2: A road trip with my BF
3: Go on a safari

Book Description:
Open your heart to the most life-affirming and uplifting novel of the year…
Thelma and Louis, it’s always just been the two of them, Thelma and her beloved son, Louis.
But when Louis is involved in an accident, their lives are turned upside down, as Louis falls into a coma. Feeling lost without him by her side, Thelma finds Louis’ book of wonders – a bucket list of all the things he wants to accomplish in his life. She suddenly sees a way to feel close to him: she will fulfil Louis’ dreams, living them out for him, in the hope that it will inspire him to survive.
Thelma is about to set off on the adventure of a lifetime… and in a way, so is Louis…
The Book of Wonders is a heart-warming and charming story about finding the joy in every moment of life and making each and every day count. Perfect for fans of The Keeper of Lost Things and A Man Called Ove.
My Thoughts:
I knew this would be one of those stories that pulls on your heart strings and it does, but it’s also so much more.
Thelma could be anyone of us. She works hard to provide for her son and no doubt again like some of us do, allowing work to take over our lives with family getting pushed into the background. This is something she realises quite quickly on the life changing day when her son has an accident leaving him in some sort of coma.
I absolutely loved the idea of Louis’ book of wonders. A list of things he wants to do, very much a bucket list. It just shows what lengths a mother will go to for her child as Thelma sets off to full fill her sons list. I thought she was very brave and I felt like I shared the joys and pains as she experienced them herself.
The Book Of Wonders really makes you realise what is important in life. It makes you want to live for the now and spend as much of that time with the people you love. It really does warm the heart as well as being a bit of an emotional roller coaster of a read. I cried and smiled along with Thelma. It’s definitely one of those books that could be life changing and you will certainly be glad you read it.
My thanks to Quercus for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.
The Book Of Wonders is available to purchase from Amazon. (Please note that link used is an affiliate link).

I can heartily recommend both the safari (try Tanzania first) and a trip to Vietnam!
