Penny’s Antique Shop of Memories and Treasures by Helena Fairfax @HelenaFairfax

Book Description:

Previously published as The Antique Love

“A wonderful and heart-warming contemporary romance that you won’t be able to put down until the very last page.”Romance author Marie Laval

One rainy day in London, Wyoming man Kurt Bold walks into an antique shop off the King’s Road and straight into the dreams of its owner, Penny Rosas. Kurt certainly looks every inch the cowboy hero…but he soon brings Penny’s dreams to earth with a thump. His job is in the logical world of finance – and as far as Kurt is concerned, romance is just for dreamers.
But when Kurt hires Penny to help refurbish his Victorian house near Richmond Park, it’s not long before the logical heart he has guarded so carefully is opening up to new emotions, in a most disturbing way…

My Thoughts:

Penny and Kurt couldn’t be further away from each other in terms of personalities. Penny is a dreamer, full of self doubt but believes in true love, passionately. Kurt on the other hand is very sensible and has his whole life mapped out and is not a believer when it comes to finding true love.

These are two very different but lovable characters in their own right. Even their jobs are worlds apart with Penny being a partner in an antique shop, something of which she takes very seriously and is again very passionate about. Kurt works in a corporate world of finance and everything is very matter of fact to him. To say they are opposites though, I was willing for this pair to fall madly in love with each other.

The story is a relatively short one, being less than 230 pages long, which I read in two sittings. The authors writing had me totally entranced and I devoured every word. I got so swept up in the story that by the end I was a bag of emotions and had an overwhelming feeling of happiness.

Penny’s Antique Shop of Memories and Treasures is an engaging and heart warming read full of possibilities. I so enjoyed this book and was filled with mixed emotions at the end as I loved the story but was sad to have come to the end. A truly wonderful read to get caught up in. Loved it!
