The Misfit Tribe And The Secret Of Mystery Island by B. J. Rowling & D. G. Lloyd @olympiapub @BJRowling @dglloyd66

Book Description:

Some secrets are best kept hidden… and some are just too magical not to share.
Teenagers, who unexpectedly acquire a vast collection of magical, mystical powers and abilities, find an ancient map. This map leads them on a quest for buried treasure to a mysterious island filled with hidden secrets, booby traps and a ruthless villain who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. What could possibly go wrong? A lot!

My Thoughts:

So, I have seen this book likened to The Famous Five and the Goonies and have to say I whole heartedly agree. Even though a YA novel, and yes, no way could I be classed in that category being of a more maturer age now, but in my head I still feel just as young. Of course what I’m trying to say, is that this book can easily be enjoyed by adults and young adults alike.

We meet a group of teens who are all friends and are about to go on a quest for a bit of family fun with their families, although there is a monetary prize up for grabs with it. Obviously this gets a bit of rivalry going between them with some stooping to certain tactics to get further on than the rest.

J.J and his brother Aaron have a very good reason in why they need to win the prize due to family issues and the story definitely centres more around them than the rest of the group.

The story is jam packed full of action, thrills, mystery and a little bit of magic. It was great to get caught up in it all and you really get behind the kids wanting them to succeed. It was also nice to see the group bonding more the further into the story we got.

The Misfit Tribe and the Secret of Mystery Island was an enjoyable read that took me back to my childhood as always wanted to be part of a group that solved mysteries. Sadly that never happened of course so was great to be able to live it through the characters in the novel instead. Probably safer as well! Overall an entertaining and fun read and one for the young at heart.

My thanks to Olympia Publishers for a copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.
