My Thoughts:

This is the second book in the Water Trilogy featuring Jude and Kate. Whilst you don’t necessarily have to have read the first book before this one, I would advise doing so as you get a better understanding of the main characters.

Having read and enjoyed the first book in the trilogy, I was very much looking forward to being reunited with this couple. Sadly, whilst overall it’s still a decent read, I didn’t love it as much as the previous book.

It’s hard to know quite what to say as I don’t want to spoil it for people who haven’t read the first book. This one pretty much starts off in the same way as that one does and then we are taken on a similar journey with chapters alternating between both characters. Yes it’s new scenarios and new murders but for me, and it could be my own fault, was expecting it to be different. Not the murder side of things as that’s what makes these books. It’s how things are between Jude and Kate.

The author as usual has some great little twists up her sleeves of which I think is the saving grace for this novel. I just didn’t see them coming and when they do it’s certainly jaw dropping stuff. It definitely makes you sit up and take notice.

Dead In The Water is great for readers who love to be shocked as this certainly delivers on that score. I would have loved for things to have been different this time with Kate and Jude. First time round it worked, it just felt all to familiar this time round though. This obviously is just my personal opinion. It still makes for a compelling read and a page turner of one at that.
