New York Times and USA Today bestselling author M A Comley has sold over two and a half million copies worldwide.
Carmel Cove is a peaceful community… except when death pays a visit.
When the friend of a friend goes missing and a corpse is discovered, Private Investigator Ruth Morgan is tasked with solving yet another death in her hometown.
The case is a perplexing one with few suspects and more questions than answers. Did the victim die at the hands of someone else? Did they commit suicide after falling out with their spouse? Or is it simply a case of accidental death?
In her quest to uncover the truth, Ruth puts everything on the line, her business and even her relationship with her fiancé.
Other books in the series are:
Murder at the Wedding
Murder at the Hotel
Murder by the Sea
We are back in the idyllic area of Carmel Cove. Work for Ruth is on the quiet side but we know that won’t be for long as where would the fun in that be?
Along with a new case, Ruth and her fiance James seem to be at logger heads. I have to say I felt quite sorry for James in the story as this is one guy who is obviously madly in love but Ruth’s work seems to get in the way at the most untimely moments.
I love the close knit community feel you get in a cozy mystery. You get to see some previous characters as well as getting to meet new ones. Steven is a fabulous character and was so glad to see him pop up in this one. It still reads easily as a stand alone for anyone who hasn’t had the pleasure of reading the first two in the series.
You get a build up of mystery that surrounds the victim’s death and you also get a real Agatha Christie feel towards the end. For a murder mystery, it still makes for a gripping read.
Murder By The Sea is an enthralling story that held me captive throughout. The bracing cold weather of the sea adds to the chill of the case. Even with a cosy mystery, the author ensures I have no way of figuring out who the killer was. I would really love to see this being adapted to the screen. A series that is a must read for fans of cozy mysteries.
Thanks to the author for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.
