My Thoughts:
Whilst this maybe the fifth book in the series, it easily reads as a standalone.
This is a particularly dark book in the series. Obviously with it being a crime book it’s going to be dark but this one is more so. I would nearly go as far as saying it’s the authors darkest yet.
It’s actually hard to know what to say about this book as I don’t want to give anything away. In parts it is slightly disturbing as the story line does deal with rape of which certainly makes for an uncomfortable read. The murder that Nelson and his team turn up to is also particularly gruesome. The author really has turned to the dark side with this one.
This probably isn’t going to be for the more feint hearted of readers but if like me you are a hardened crime reader, you will love it. I love the mix of work and home life that we see with Nelson. Also seeing the relationship between him and his working partner Julie. It was good to see the ups and downs that goes on in a working relationship and how they take the stresses and strains out on each other. I mean no relationship is perfect, even working ones.
Criminal Actions is a dark and very twisted novel. M.A Comley in her usual style, has created yet another heart stopping, gripping read that hooks your from the first to very last page. This is one crime I was desperate for the team to solve and my heart was in my mouth many a time.
