Book Description:
It’s never too late to be offered a second chance at life.
Debs is newly single, Fiona is caring for her mum, Samantha is grieving, and Liv has the perfect life – or so she’d like her friends to think…
This year, these four life-long friends are turning fifty, and Liv is determined they will honour their promise to each other – made on a beach at sunrise twenty-nine years before – to celebrate this milestone together.
And what better place than a gorgeous villa where they will be spoiled and enjoy the stunning beaches, picturesque fishing towns and glorious climate of the Algarve?
But time away from home doesn’t always make the heart grow fonder. Sometimes it makes the thought of returning to your life too hard to bear. Especially with more than one gorgeous Portuguese man making hearts unexpectedly flutter…
It begins as a reunion in the sunshine, but little do the four friends know what life-changing decisions they’ll all be making before their flight home.
A heart-warming, feel-good summer read about friendship, love and second chances.

My Thoughts:
This is a story that centres around 4 women who have been life long friends. All are quite different in personalities which is probably why their friendship has lasted and what better way to celebrate turning fifty than spending it with good friends somewhere hot?
To start with we get to see a glimpse of what life is like for the four friends in their home surroundings. All are dealing with different life issues and I enjoyed getting to know them all better. I have to say I felt drawn more to Debs and Liv. Mainly because there were aspects of their lives that I could relate to more than the other two women.
As like many of us in these uncertain times, I probably won’t get abroad this year. The author though brings that holiday feeling and sun in bucket loads when we tag along with the four friends to Portugal. I fell instantly in love with the villa and gorgeous setting. As well as a few of the male characters in the story. Don’t tell the husband! 😉
What can I say other than I loved this story. I picked it up one sunny afternoon and before to long I was closing in towards the ending. I was dreading turning each page as I didn’t want it to end. These four women who were strangers at the start, felt like life long friends by the end and I wasn’t ready to say goodbye. There was plenty to keep me entertained as we see these women realising things about themselves as well as their lives. I loved seeing the highs and lows they were going through as well as meeting Mickey and Eduardo who definitely brightened things up even more!
Sunshine and Second Chances is a gorgeous summery read about finding yourself. It is a wonderful reminder that it is never too late in life to do anything or make changes. The friendships were heartwarming and funny, as well a couple of occasions that tugged on my heart strings. Kim Nash is without a doubt my go to author for realistic characters who are both relatable and lovable. Her books are guaranteed to make me smile and they are like a comfort blanket as they transport me away offering me an entertaining and feel good read. Wonderful!
