This is a perfect book to pick up and dip in and out of with it being made up of short stories. Before each story, the author gives us a brief insight into how the story came about. Sometimes I can find this a bit tiresome but have to say that wasn’t the case here. As the authors background is in the police force, I found it really interesting in how each story evolved.
The stories themselves are not overly long and I ended up flying through the book. Each one is crime related, some darker than others. My absolute favourite one though had to be Jimmy Tickles Christmas. When you read it you will understand why. It’s very different to the other stories but really pulled on my heart strings and has a deeper meaning to its heart. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing this slightly different side to the authors other stories.
With each story brings different twists and turns which made it a compelling read. The author has you caring for certain characters and even now having finished the book, I find myself thinking back to some of the characters as they made quite an impact on me.
Killing Dad and other crime short stories was such an enjoyable read. If you are a crime fan, you will certainly love this book. With each story, it just seemed to be the right amount, not to long, not to short and delivered everything that I would hope it would within it. Pick up a copy today as you won’t be disappointed.
My thanks to the author for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.
