Book Description:
…Can destroy your life
‘Wow, wow, wow, this book had me guessing all the way to the end!’ ☆☆☆☆☆ Reader Review
When new mother, Laura Caldwell, opens the card dropped through her letterbox, she expected to see a heartfelt note, congratulating her on the birth of baby Shay.
Instead, she sees a message that makes her blood run cold. ‘Your husband is a murderer.’ It couldn’t be true, could it? Not Conor, her adoring husband. He couldn’t be behind the brutal killing of local barmaid, Vicky. Not him.
But while Laura fights to discover the truth about her husband, she’s also holding dark secrets of her own; secrets she’s spent years trying to hide. Could the card be a desperate attempt at revenge – or could her husband really be a murderer? There’s a tangled web between this perfect couple – and the truth might just destroy them…
My Thoughts:
The story is set in a small village in Ireland. You get a real sense of what it is like to live in a small area and of the community as well as the gossiping. After receiving a card telling Laura her husband is a murderer, well it has her questioning just how well she really knows her husband.
Not only is Laura keen to discover the truth about her husband, she also has a secret of her own that she is hiding. Obviously I was keen to discover both! The author doesn’t give to much away though and I was glued to the pages and racing through them to see just what they were.
There are some red herrings doted throughout which had me second guessing and pointing the finger at the wrong people. Laura I felt sorry for as, as much as she loves her husband, she isn’t as fond of his family and friends and apart from her sister Amanda, she is quite isolated where she is, leaving her not knowing which way to turn at times. The secrets when they start to unravel were well worth waiting for.
Five Little Words is a novel that will mess with your mind. It’s very much a story about hidden secrets of which some threaten to rip peoples lives apart. Who doesn’t love a good secret and I so enjoyed reading the gossip and getting caught up in it all. A compelling read that will have you hooked throughout.
