Unknown is available to purchase from Amazon. (Please note that link used is an Amazon affiliate link)

Book Description:

It happens every year. A select few disappear, never to return.

From The Falkland Islands to the Himalayas, Puerto Rico to England – people are vanishing without trace or explanation. A young man who’s lost everything stumbles across an ancient secret.

Can he unlock the mystery? Will he find those who need him?

…can he escape the Unknown?

My Thoughts:

This is a story where past and present collide, literally!

It took me a little while to adjust to the story flicking between past and present and getting used to the characters but once I had settled in, the author had my full attention. With a good part of the story being in the past, I enjoyed the oldeworldy (not sure if that’s even a word lol) feel to it. The pace of life is very different to how it is in modern day where back then people live in fear of folklore.

As random killings seem to be increasing, it’s no wonder that people are starting to get scared. The past allows us to discover more about the so called folklores as well as weird going ons and the people behind it. It is quite creepy in part with some deaths impacting me more than others. It’s kind of hard to quite know what genre this falls into with time travel and vampires but for me it was more about the suspense. The build up had me well and truly hooked.

Unknown is quite a different read for me but one I enjoyed. Jake’s character had me well and truly invested and my heart was in my mouth many a time as his life as well as people he knows, comes under constant threat. It makes for a tense, page-turner of a read that had me literally on the edge of my seat by the end.
