Book Description:
I have both your sons, Mr Levitt. One of them must die. You choose.
Widower Sean Levitt receives the ominous message in the post a few days after his teenage boys go missing on their way to army cadets. As time progresses, the abductor makes increasingly horrific demands of Sean by sending him DVDs, and telling him to post videos online of the shocking assignments he sets him.
One Must Die is the story of one man’s fight to keep his sons alive, and the terrible lengths he must go to in order to do so.
Can Sean do what the police have failed to do and find his sons?
Or will the abductor achieve his twisted aim of destroying his entire family?
My Thoughts:
This story starts off with a bang and just got way more dark and sinister throughout. I’ve said it before and I know I keep saying it but this author just gets more darker and twisted with every book that comes out! I bet inside his head is one scary but interesting place to be.
You don’t have to be a parent to understand the dilemma that Sean finds himself in. To be put in the cruel and heartless position of having to choose to save only one of your children’s lives. Is there anything more unimaginable? I didn’t even want to comprehend what a decision like that would mean or even think about what I would do if it was me in his situation. It literally terrified me!
Every time a DVD lands on Sean’s doorstep, I braced myself as to what each one was going to reveal. The person behind the children’s abduction’s is one sick and twisted individual who plays the worst kind of mind games. What stood out for me though was the brevity of some of the characters. I also enjoyed seeing the strong bond between Sean and his father in law. It made me think that regardless of how much evil there can be out in the world the compassion of humanity never fails to surprise me.
One Must Die was a story full of heart stopping moments that sent my head into a frenzy as it will have you putting yourself into the protagonist’s shoes, a place you would never want to find yourself. The author knows how to pull on every emotion and when all becomes clear as to who is behind these callous acts, WOAH, I SO DID NOT SEE THAT COMING! The master of twisted does it again!
My thanks to the author for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.
