The Serial Killer’s Wife by Alice Hunter @AvonBooksUK

Book Description:

Every marriage has its secrets…

Beth and Tom Hardcastle are the envy of their neighbourhood – they have the perfect marriage, the perfect house, the perfect family.

When the police knock on their door one evening, Beth panics. Tom should be back from work by now – what if he’s crashed his car? She fears the worst.

But the worst is beyond imagining.

As the interrogation begins, Beth will find herself questioning everything she believed about her husband.

They’re saying he’s a monster. And they’re saying she knew.

My Thoughts:

Having heard so many great things about this book, I thought it was time to delve in.

The story is mainly told from the point of view of Beth with the odd chapter from Tom. The chapters being relatively short made for that ‘just one more chapter’ and before I knew it, I had flown through this enthralling read.

To start with Beth’s marriage looks like its been a happy one so her husband getting arrested must be a mistake. It soon becomes apparent though that this is no mistake. I couldn’t help having empathy for Beth and her daughter Poppy as their lives get swept up in a whirlwind of investigations and tabloid news.

The Serial Killer’s Wife was a hugely compulsive read that I couldn’t put down. I was already gripped from the start but the further into the story I got the more hooked I became. The author drip feeds us revelations that started to put niggles of doubt in my mind and oh my goodness when we get to the end, I hadn’t seen that one final twist coming that just blew my mind! My heart was racing by the end of this book as that was how wrapped up in it I had been. I love when you finish a book and the adrenaline of reading it leaves you on a high. Can’t recommend this book highly enough! Absolutely brilliant and can’t wait to read more by the author.
