THE SUNDAY TIMES NUMBER ONE BESTSELLER, SET TO BECOME A HIT MOVIE PRODUCED BY REESE WITHERSPOON AND STARRING DOLLY PARTON
FIND A FUTURE. LOSE A PAST.
She’s a star on the rise, singing about the hard life behind her.
She’s also on the run.
Nashville is where she’s come to claim her destiny.
It’s also where the darkness she’s fled might find her. And destroy her . . .
RUN ROSE RUN: a story glittering with danger and desire.
James Patterson was the first author to introduce me to adult crime/thrillers. I loved his Alex Cross series as well as his standalones, they always had me hooked. Admittedly it has been a while since I have read a book by him but once I saw he was cowriting it with THE Dolly Parton, I knew I had to get myself a copy.
There’s a character in the book called Ruthanna who helps and befriends AnnieLee our protagonist. Not sure if it is just me but Ruthanna was Dolly Parton in my head. The way she spoke and almost her mannerisms, it just screamed Dolly. I’ve since seen that the book is going to be made into a movie starring Dolly herself and couldn’t think of anyone better to play the part as she so owns it.
AnnieLee is a great character and I loved her strength. She is running away from something in her past which seems to have a habit of trying to spoil her future. She finds herself in quite a few harrowing incidents which had my heart in my mouth as to how things were going to end up for her. Another character I loved is Ethan. He sure made my heart melt!
Run Rose Run had me gripped to every page. The story captured my mind and had me there with the characters as well as the bars that AnnieLee finds herself singing in. At the end of the book, there is a list of the songs with the lyrics that AnnieLee writes in the story. I love that they have also done a soundtrack to go with the book as will be great to see how they sound as betting it will be even better than what was in my head. I hope James and Dolly team up to write more as this was a great teaming of two brilliant minds.
