Friends Like These by Hannah Ellis @BooksEllis

Book Description:

Finding new friends shouldn’t be so difficult…

When newly single Marie decides to shake up her social life she knows exactly what she wants: stylish, sophisticated friends and no romantic complications.

But a chance encounter brings some unlikely characters into her life, throwing her plans way off course. She just can’t seem to get rid of this bunch of misfits!

And then there’s Brian, whose good looks and charm might just distract Marie from her ideas about staying single…

This wonderfully quirky British rom com is sure to leave you smiling.

My Thoughts:

Marie being newly single leaves her realising she needs to do more with her social life and make new friends as her housemate and bestfriend is newly loved up. I liked Marie from the off and even more so over the course of this book. She is certainly someone I could be good friends with.

A planned night out which takes a different turn, introduces Marie to some unexpected and unlikely friends. Marie and her new found friends are what really makes this a truly lovely story. Sometimes it’s the unexpected friendships that are the best ones and I loved getting to know all of these characters as it was both funny and heart-warming. Of course we also have the wonderful love interest, Brian, who was an absolute sweetheart and he captured my heart from the start.

Friends Like These is a wonderfully uplifting read that gives you a lovely warm glow inside. Characterisation is so important and the author gets it spot on and by the end, they all felt like my friends. With stories like these I usually feel slightly melancholy by the end as I know I am going to have to say goodbye but luckily for us readers this is the first in a series of books to feature these characters and I for one can not wait to catch up with them again!
