My Husband’s Wife by Amanda Prowse @MrsAmandaProwse

Book Description:

From the million-copy bestseller Amanda Prowse, the queen of heartbreak fiction.

Amanda Prowse is the author of The Coordinates Of Loss and the no.1 bestsellers Perfect DaughterMy Husband’s Wife and What Have I Done?

Once a week, Rosie Tipcott counts her blessings.

She goes to sit on her favourite bench on the north Devon cliffs, and thanks her lucky stars for her wonderful husband, her mischievous young daughters, and her neat little house by the sea. She vows to dedicate every waking hour to making her family happy.

But then her husband unexpectedly leaves her for another woman and takes the children. Now she must ask the question: what is left in her life? Can Rosie find the strength to rebuild herself? More importantly, does she even want to?

My Thoughts:

My heart went out to Rosie in this novel. Happily married, with two daughters and whilst they don’t have a great deal, she is happy with her life as it is. Her world is turned upside down when her husband leaves her and she struggles with the new situation she finds herself in.

Have you ever wished you could give a character a hug? So many times I wished I could reach inside and hug Rosie and reassure her that everything would be okay. Splitting up from a partner is so much more than splitting from that one person. Loyalties change and family and friends who you once got on great with, those relationships start to be come fractured and change. There were parts of this novel that made me want to give some of the characters a really good shake with the way they were acting. In some ways I could understand but they couldn’t seem to see what their actions were doing to Rosie and seeing her turn further into herself literally broke my heart.

My Husband’s Wife, whilst heart-breaking, was also life affirming. Even in times of darkness, it’s worth remembering to never give up hope. I felt like I was going through every step of the breakup with Rosie and my emotions were all over the place. I found myself growing closer and closer to this character and it felt like I was saying goodbye to a dear friend when I reached the last page. An emotionally, uplifting read that will have you reaching for the tissues!
