Book Description:
When Clara Bowes transforms a wilderness of a garden, she isn’t expecting to reconnect with someone special from her past at the same time. Having Rory Angel in her life again is a dream come true. But life is never straight forward – especially in matters of the heart – and soon, a devastating revelation looks set to bring Clara’s hopes for the future crashing down around her. Will she find the strength to reach for her dreams? Don’t miss this gorgeously sunny read, perfect for the summer months!
My Thoughts:
Even though this is book 23 in the series, it’s the first one to feature Clara as well as quite a lot of other new characters. Whilst we bump into a few of the original cast of characters, they are very firmly in the background with this one, only making small appearances.
I’m in no way green fingered but I loved all the descriptions of Clara’s, Gran’s garden. From the flowers but more so the vegetables. Would love to be able to grow my own but plants always seem to die at my fingertips! This story will certainly have you hungry with what Clara does with all the excess vegetables. Yes, I’ve heard of carrot cake which I love, but courgette cake and beetroot brownies and cakes! I didn’t know vegetables could sound so delicious!
Poor Clara hasn’t had much luck in the love department due to her lack of confidence and being shy. I was with her every step of the way in this story as she builds her hopes up when it comes to Rory, her old school friend. Every time things look like they are going well, something happens to dampen them leaving poor Clara down in the dumps. On top of this she is always looking out for her 6 year old little brother, Bertie, as his mother has a lot to learn when it comes to parenting!
I loved getting to meet Clara along with a few of the other characters in Clara’s Secret Garden. The best thing is that this is the first of three stories that will focus on Clara and her love life. Am dying to see what happens in the next instalment as things aren’t quite clear cut who Clara’s heart will go to and I can’t wait to find out! A gorgeous, uplifting read!
My thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources for inviting me to be part of the blog tour. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.
Rosie Green has been scribbling stories ever since she was little. Back then they were rip-roaring adventure tales with a young heroine in perilous danger of falling off a cliff or being tied up by ‘the baddies’. Thankfully, Rosie has moved on somewhat, and now much prefers to write romantic comedies that melt your heart and make you smile, with really not much perilous danger involved at all, unless you count the heroine losing her heart in love.
Rosie’s brand new series of novellas is centred on life in a village café. The first two stories in the series are: Spring at The Little Duck Pond Cafe and Summer at The Little Duck Pond Café.
