My Thoughts:
Due to events in the previous book in the series, I would highly recommend readers reading the one prior to this one. Sam’s personal life is usually more in the background but in this latest instalment, I would say it’s around fifty percent of her personal life and the other half on solving a new case. This is needed and works well as I was eager to read more about both.
The author has set the crimes in an idyllic location where holiday makers are wanting to get away from it all but get more than they bargained for. I was envious of them to start with, with the stunning views and chocolate box cottages until disturbing occurrences start to happen and I was glad I wasn’t as isolated as these poor characters.
Sam and her team are up against it as with the victims not being from the area, it causes issues in itself as they have to rely on other forces to help them out. It gives you a bit of insight into what happens when someone is involved in a crime far from where they live. It’s an aspect I don’t recall seeing much of in crime books so enjoyed this particular element.
To Entice Them combines the main character’s personal and work life whilst still managing to keep the tempo of the story pacey as well as page turning. I was as worried about Sam in her personal life as well as what was happening with the case. When you are further into a series, the main characters become like a dear friend and it’s impossible not to become wrapped up in their lives as well as care for them. Of course because of this, it can also mean things can get a bit emotional at times and that is credit to the author’s storytelling. Idyllic settings, steadily paced with thrills along the way. What’s not to love?!
